The Granville County Extension Volunteer Association (EVA) is pleased to announce that they will have the opportunity to award a $500 college scholarship to one youth and one adult this year. The primary purpose of this scholarship is to assist students, both youth and adults, in obtaining a college education in a 4-year degree preferably, but not exclusively, in life sciences, agriculture or family and consumer science or a 2-year degree in most any service or business related field. Students, youth or adults, must be enrolled at an accredited school in North Carolina. Applicants will be selected for a one-year term, primarily on the basis of academia, activities and honors. Financial need is considered.

Recipients awarded an EVA Scholarship will have an outstanding record of participation and achievement within their school and community. Additionally, recipients will possess an excellent record of academic achievement measured chiefly by their performance on school courses including English, mathematics, physical sciences and social sciences. Also, recipients will demonstrate an aptitude for college work which will be measured by their performance on college entrance examinations including the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and American College Testing (ACT).

Each applicant must submit a completed application, official school transcript, three letters of recommendation and a resume. A financial need letter can be also submitted but is optional. Download the EVA Scholarship Application or it can be picked up at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Granville County Center at 125 Oxford Loop Rd. The application packet must be submitted to the Extension Center by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. All applicants are responsible for completing the entire application packet, and any uncompleted packets with missing components will be disqualified.

A selection committee will review all completed application packets after May 1, and winners will be notified of their selection. Scholarship funds will be submitted directly to the college finance office and will be paid in two installments, $250 per semester for a total of $500. A grade point average of 2.5 must be maintained to receive the second payment. For more information, contact the Extension Office at 919-603-1350.
