American Flag and crops exhibit Kay Bullard, State Advisory Council Volunteer – South Central District, visited the 2018 Cumberland County Fair and stopped by the N.C. Cooperative Extension of Cumberland County exhibit – a “Tribute to the American Farmer.” She shared some photos from the exhibit.

According to Lisa Childers, Extension Director of Cumberland County, Cooperative Extension staff along with 4-H youth created a “Tribute to the American Farmer.”  Spanning over 1600 square feet, the exhibit consisted of over 25 tons of mulch to simulate actual rows and showcased corn, soybeans, cotton, peanuts, watermelons, tobacco, and sweet potatoes. Over 25,000 people visited the exhibit and gave many citizens unfamiliar with agriculture the opportunity to learn where and how food is grown. The exhibit was so successful that it was awarded the prestigious Innovation Award at the annual convention of the North Carolina Association of Agricultural Fairs.”
