Horseshoe Valley Horse & Pony

General Information

Project club focusing on horse and pony. Members will learn all things equine including nutrition, grooming, breeds, tack and much more. No horse ownership or previous experience required. This is an unmounted club. Riding lessons/instruction is not included. Members are encouraged to participate in the annual horse judging and hippology contests. Meetings will at time be focused on teaching material to prepare for these contests.

Age Requirements

For ages 8-18

Meeting Day/Time/Location

Twice a month. One Monday from 6-7:30 p.m. and one Saturday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Meeting spaces vary. Typically Monday meetings are held at the Extension Office and the Saturday meetings are farm visits. Club meets during the school year only –  meetings held during the summer.

Little River Community Club

General Information

Community club serving youth in the Little River and Penrose communities  although all youth are welcome! Each meeting focuses on a different group activity. Youth also work independently on their own projects. Past activities include sewing, cookie decorating, and preparing/serving meals for a shelter.

Age Requirements

For ages 8-18

Meeting Day/Time/Location

One Tuesday a month from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Little River Community Center. Club meets during the school year only – no meetings held during the summer.

TC Bots

General Information

Home school project club serving youth throughout the county. Youth work independently on their own project of their choice and learn STEM activities as a group.

Age Requirements

For ages 5-18

Meeting Day/Time/Location

Last Monday of the month from 1:30-3 p.m. Typically meets at the Extension Office. Club meets during the school year only – no meetings held during the summer.

Transylvania County Herders

General Information

Project based club for all things animals. Youth work independently on their own project of their choice and do activities together that focus on learning about all types of animals from livestock to reptiles and everything in between!

Age Requirements

For ages 8-18

Meeting Day/Time/Location

One Monday of the month from 6:30-7:30 p.m. with the occasional field trip or weekend activity. Typically meets at the Extension Office or Brevard High School. Club meets year round.

Trebol Latinos

General Information

Project based club for youth who participate in the 4-H Juntos program. Youth work on leadership, civic engagement, and college/career readiness.

Age Requirements

For middle and high school students

Meeting Day/Time/Location

One Tuesday of the month from 3:30-5 p.m. with the occasional field trip or weekend activity. Meets at El Centro during Bilingual Club. Club meets during the school year only – no meetings held during the summer.
