Intro to Pressure Canning
Low-acid foods must be processed in a pressure canner instead of a water bath canner in order to be safe from harmful microorganisms and toxins. This includes vegetables, meats, broths and stocks, and soup mixes.
This hands-on workshop is designed for the person who wants to learn the pressure canning skills to be able to safely preserve these foods.
During our class, you will learn about why using a pressure canner is essential for processing low-acid foods, the equipment needed for pressure canning, receive step-by-step instructions on the process, learn about sources for safety-tested canning recipes, and participate in a hands-on pressure canning activity.
