Garlic & Onions from Planting to Harvest
Join us for a hands-on workshop at Lomax Research Farm, where you’ll learn everything you need to know about growing garlic and onions from start to finish. Participants will get expert guidance on soil preparation, planting techniques, and pest and disease management from Master Gardener volunteers.
This is not just a one-day class—it’s a growing experience! You’ll plant your own garlic and onions at Lomax and can sign up once a week to go check on all the plants with a certified Master Gardener to help weed or the Extension Agent. When harvest season arrives in the spring, we’ll host a follow-up session where you’ll pull your own garlic from the ground and take it home.
What to Bring: Garden gloves and any scrap cardboard for weed suppression.
What You’ll Get: A small sample set to take home and your own garlic crop at harvest time.
Be Prepared: This is a working farm project—expect to dig, plant, and get your hands dirty!
