Dave Goff smiling in an NC State hat.Last weekend, we lost a dear 4-H Friend & fellow Pack member that will leave a lasting legacy in the lives of many 4-H’ers. Dave Goff served for more than 30 years as the Cabarrus County 4-H Agent and was instrumental in building the Cabarrus 4-H Program into what it is today. Many of us knew him as the voice of the North Carolina 4-H State Horse Show serving as announcer. Dave also was an active and vocal member of NCAE4HA challenging us all “To Make the Best Better”! He ensured his legacy by facilitating the creation of the Cabarrus County 4-H Foundation and his family started an endowment upon his retirement to give scholarships for youth doing presentations to attend NC 4-H Congress. His impact will last in perpetuity to be felt by many 4-H’ers in years to come. The Cabarrus County 4-H’er of the Year award is named for him. We are so grateful to Dave and his family for their continued support over the years and especially enjoyed his visits to Achievement Night and other events.

There will be a celebration of Dave’s life on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 70 Union Street N., Concord with the Reverend Ellen Crawford True officiating. The family kindly requests that attendees wear a mask for the service. Visitation with the family after the service will take place in the church courtyard. Private interment for the family will take place at an earlier time.

Dave often quoted one of his favorite musicians, Warren Zevon, encouraging us all to “Enjoy every sandwich.”

In lieu of flowers, Dave would love that memorials be sent to:
• Cabarrus 4-H Foundation, Inc, 715 Cabarrus Avenue – West, Concord, NC 28027, or

• First Presbyterian Church Concord (the Music Fund or the Todd & Betsy Hobbie Scholarship Fund), PO Box 789, Concord, NC 28026

David Goff’s Memorial page can be found on the Wilkinson Funeral Home website.
