Cabarrus County Youth Commission

In partnership with the Cabarrus County Board of Commission, 20 seats are available for this citizenship action group. Teens work to bring awareness to youth related issues and learn more about local government to bring information to their schools. Two seats are available for area public high schools and four “At-Large” seats are available for non-public and non-traditional school settings. Applications are accepted ONLINE all year with an emphasis to fill all seats by September.

Cabarrus County Citizenship Focus

Talk to your civics teacher about bringing your class to this half day free experience. Meet with county departments to learn more about services provided by your tax dollars. Engage with a panel of elected officials to get your questions answered. Participate in a real world budget simulation and see how tax dollars are spent and the role elected officials play. Funding is available to support bus and substitute expenses. Contact tracy_lecompte@ncsu.edu for more information.
